Interviews

We started the day with a beautiful morning in the park to do some interviews. Our daughters Nora and Eloise did fantastic being interviewed and had a lot of beautiful insights about homeschooling that were fun to hear. The next thing on the schedule was to interview Matt and I about our story, our vision for the documentary, and why we are passionate about what we are doing... we attempted this interview for an hour and it ended up being a complete flop! It was incredibly frustrating for me, but it definitely gave me some better perspective and empathy for what we have been asking of other people when we have been interviewing them. All of our interviewees have been amazing so far, and I am so very grateful that they have had a better way with words than i did!

Children's Museum

In the afternoon we had a wonderful shoot set up at our local Children's museum, we filmed in two rooms of the museum-the dinosaur room and the grocery store. The children were all delightful and interacted fantastically with each other despite the 8 year span in age differences, which was great because we hear that a lot in interviews. We were able to get some fun and unique angles and it was a great way to show how children learn naturally through play and how beneficial community resources are to homeschoolers.

Rock Climbing

The evening was spent with an awesome mother and her two sons doing some things they love-rock climbing in the park, reading together, and riding their bikes. They had a great family energy and it was fun to capture their love of life. It was a fun production because we tried something entirely new with our gear to get fantastic shots of the climbing. It took some time to get the camera goat set up high in the air, but reviewing the footage shows us it was well worth the effort! It is always fulfilling to try new approaches. It was a beautiful evening, gorgeous light, and a fantastic family!
